“Problems cannot be solved by thinking within the framework in which the problems were created” Albert Einstein
In an increasingly diverse workforce, many individuals and managers feel they are treading new territory leading. Even outwardly similar groups, as individuals, have different experiences and perspectives that shape their values, motivations, behavioral styles, and interests. Appreciating and leveraging these diverse qualities can create opportunities for new approaches and creative, inclusive solutions.
Typically, it is the lack of understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives that limits the effectiveness of individuals and teams. The lack of support suppresses motivation and negatively impacts job satisfaction and performance. In an increasingly diverse workplace, we believe it's imperative to move from ignoring differences to understanding and learning to best utilize the attributes and qualities all individuals bring to bear.
